A California man is now facing serious charges after the killing of his wife in San Jose.
Police were called to a home on June 11 after reports of an attack. When officers arrived, they found 45-year-old Maria Liliana Vanegas Parra with multiple stab wounds. The Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office later shared details about the case.
Although the press release did not name her, she was identified through a GoFundMe page and reports from Telemundo Bay Area, Univision, and ABC 7.
Inside the home, officers also found her estranged husband, 46-year-old Pablo Aguileramora. He had a stab wound that police believe he caused himself. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, Parra did not survive her injuries.
In her final moments, investigators say Parra was able to name Aguileramora as the person who attacked her. This became an important part of the case. Authorities also said that Aguileramora threatened the person who called 911, which added more concern to the situation.
This was not the first time police had dealt with him. Earlier in March, Aguileramora had been charged with stalking. According to officials, he allegedly slashed Parra’s tires and even tried to get a job where she worked.
Investigators also said he placed three tracking devices on her car. On top of that, he reportedly sent her over 100 texts and voicemails and showed up at her workplace.
Even after these actions, he was released from custody in that earlier case. Parra had taken steps to protect herself and got an emergency protective order against him.
Court records confirmed his arrest in March, but more details were not available online.
Friends and family remember Parra as a loving and kind person. A GoFundMe page created in her honor shares more about her life. It says she was a devoted mother who enjoyed going to the beach, spending time with loved ones, and sharing wine with friends.
The fundraiser also describes her as “an exceptional woman, joyful and full of dreams whose positive attitude radiated peace and tranquility to those around her.” The goal of the fundraiser is to help return her body to her native Colombia.
Now, Aguileramora is facing both stalking and murder charges. It is not yet clear if he has responded to these charges or entered a plea. He is currently being represented by a public defender, who has not made any public comments so far.
The case is still developing as authorities continue their investigation.
